POUND FOR POUND | Second Harvest Food Bank

Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley joined forces with Feeding America, General Mills and “The Biggest Loser” to combat hunger and encourage healthy lifestyles. The following are three ways to get involved with the Pound for Pound Challenge:

PLEDGE

For every pound participants lose, General Mills will donate 10 cents to Feeding America — enough to provide one pound of groceries to a local food bank. Final results should be reported between April 1 and May 5. To sign up, visit www.pfpchallenge.com.

MAIL

Mail in Pound For Pound seals from millions of General Mills packages. For every seal received by the end of 2009, General Mills will donate 10 cents to Feeding America up to a maximum donation of $275,000. All of the seals mailed in from Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley.

DONATE

Direct donations can be sent to Feeding America, a network of more than 200 member food banks, including Second Harvest of the Mahoning Valley. As the nation’s leading charitable hunger-relief organization, Feeding America serves all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
