ACTORS
“Smokey Joe’s Cafe.” Fairview Arts & Outreach Center, 4220 Youngstown-Poland Road, Youngstown. Top Hat Productions is having auditions at 7 p.m. Monday. Adult vocalists should be prepared to sing scales and a musical theater piece that shows range and style. Auditioners should also dress for dance movement. Performances will be the end of February. “The Music Man.” Easy Street Studio, 865 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown. Easy Street Productions and Youngstown Symphony Society are having auditions seeking singers and dancers 12 years and older for chorus, dancing and speaking roles Jan. 17. Auditions for dance, 2-3 p.m.; sing, 3-3:30 p.m.; dance/movement, 3-3:45 p.m.; read and sing, 3:45-5 p.m. Auditioners should come prepared to sing and dance and be available for rehearsals beginning Jan. 26. “Bus Stop.” Trinity Playhouse, 234 E. Lincoln Way, Lisbon. Stage Left Players will have auditions for mature youth and adults Jan. 19. Women’s auditions are at 6 p.m. and men’s are at 7 p.m. Audition material will be available at the box office for any performance of “Hello Dolly” Friday through Jan. 18. “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.” Benedum Center, 719 Liberty Ave., Pittsburgh. Auditions are at 10 a.m. Jan. 23 for children ages 8-12 accompanied by a parent. They should arrive no later than 9:30 a.m. to sign up. Auditions are limited to the first 150 registrants. Each child will be asked to sing 16 bars a cappella from one up-tempo song of choice. Children should also be prepared to learn and execute simple choregraphy as part of the audition process. Performances are March 10-15. (412) 456-6666.
MUSICIANS
Stambaugh Youth Concert Band. Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. Auditions will be in January and are open to students in the ninth through 12th grades. Please call for information. (330) 747-5175.
Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra. Auditions are ongoing for section strings (violin, viola, cello), substitute brass and percussion for the 2008-09 season. Rehearsals are 7:30-10 Thursdays at the Tri-C’s Metropolitan Campus Auditorium in downtown Cleveland. Audition requirements are one solo piece and one orchestral excerpt of your choice.
