BOARDMAN

Jan. 2

Theft: A woman noticed a $130 retirement check missing from her South Avenue apartment.

Criminal damaging: A key was used to damage the finish on a woman’s vehicle in the 30 block of Carter Circle.

Assault: Someone reported a fight between five to six people in the 30 block of Crestline Drive. One man suffered injuries to his nose and eye.

Theft: A Youngstown woman, 25, was charged in the theft of $31.82 worth of clothing from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: A woman in the 400 block of Flagler Lane reported $180 missing from her vehicle.

Arrest: Authorities investigated a suspicious male in the 7100 block of Tiffany Boulevard and arrested a Youngstown man, 35, on a charge of abuse of a harmful intoxicant, a first-degree misdemeanor, after saying they found 23 cans of dust remover in his car, and the man out of breath from possibly having inhaled the contents of an aerosol container. He also was wanted on a probation-violation charge.

Theft: A Youngstown girl, 14, was charged in the theft of a $24 pair of sunglasses from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Robbery: A worker for Quizno’s, 7105 Lockwood Blvd., told police a man in his 30s wearing a hood, goatee and tan coat demanded money before walking out of the sandwich shop with an undisclosed amount of money. It was undetermined if he had a weapon.

Criminal damaging: A Rockland Drive girl saw that her vehicle had been spray-painted and defaced.

Identity fraud: A Melbourne Avenue man reported a credit card missing from his wallet and that it had been used to make three fraudulent online purchases totaling $529.

Burglary: Someone may have used a stolen garage-door opener to enter a Sequoya Drive residence and remove $850 worth of jewelry and several gift cards.

Jan. 3

Theft: A Poland woman’s purse was taken while she was in the 5200 block of South Avenue.

Breaking and entering: The landlord of a vacant piece of property in the 900 block of Mathews Road reported a break-in. Several pieces of equipment were missing.

Assault: A Glenwood Avenue woman reported she and her 11-year-old son were scratched and pushed, respectively, by a neighbor in a dispute over borrowed videotapes.

Theft: A Girard woman reported $275 stolen from her purse while at the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: Police picked up a 20-year-old Youngstown man wanted on a theft charge. A worker for a South Avenue discount store was accused of taking $28 worth of miscellaneous products.

Robbery: Two store personnel with Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road, told authorities that a woman assaulted them, then fled as they confronted her after the theft of six DVDs and six articles of clothing. Neither was injured.

Theft: A Boardman woman, 19, and a Youngstown woman, 20, were charged, accused of taking $109 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart.

Theft: A former resident returned to an apartment in the 100 block of Shields Road and took without permission a stereo/DVD player, two speakers and two speaker stands.

Theft: Four Youngstown girls, two age 16 and two age 17, faced charges. They were accused of stealing from Wal-Mart a total of roughly $604 worth of items.

Criminal damaging: A Meadowood Circle couple told police their steel mailbox had been broken and that Christmas decorations were strewn about.

Assault: A 23-year-old woman was arrested at her Youngstown residence and charged after a township man alleged she tried to strangle him during an argument about their relationship.

Criminal damaging: A Quail Court man found a broken front windshield on his car.

Vandalism: Someone in the 400 block of Garver Road spray-painted an obscenity on a van owned by a Boardman company, causing an estimated $1,000 worth of damage.

Domestic violence: A 29-year-old woman was taken into custody at her Lealand Avenue residence after her mother alleged the woman pushed the accuser during an argument about ongoing family problems. The mother was not hurt.

Criminal mischief: A Ewing Road man reported six lawn decorations had been tampered with.

Theft/drugs: A Lisbon man, 21, faced charges of theft, drug abuse (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia after four DVDs were stolen from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road. Also found were suspected marijuana and a suspected marijuana pipe, a report showed.

Bad check: A $435.53 check was written at a Market Street car dealership and returned for nonsufficient funds.

Menacing: A man stopped near Shields Road told police a passenger in another vehicle approached him with a baseball bat.

Theft: A Target employee accused a co-worker of intentionally failing to scan, or improperly voiding the sale of $474.56 worth of merchandise.

Criminal mischief: A Jaguar Drive man saw that his garage door had been spray-painted. Damage came to around $500.

Jan. 4

Theft: Officers picked up a Struthers man, 33, wanted on a theft charge from the township. Two wristwatches and other items had been stolen from Walgreen’s Pharmacy, 525 E. Midlothian Blvd.

Theft: A Youngstown woman, 31, was charged, accused of deliberately failing to scan a bottle of bleach before leaving Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.

Theft: An $8 bracelet was taken from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall, resulting in a 17-year-old Austintown girl’s being charged.

Jan. 5

Menacing: A South Schenley Avenue woman told police a nursing home co-worker threatened to harm her after a work-related situation.

Domestic violence: Officers charged a Boardman man, 24, after his sister alleged the man threatened to kill her and her baby. He also faced a felony count of drug abuse when, police said, a bag of suspected cocaine was found.

POLAND

Jan. 3

Criminal damaging: Someone drove a vehicle onto property owned by Lowellville Rod & Gun Club Inc., 6625 Quarry Road, striking and causing about $2,000 worth of damage to an aluminum archery shed.

Jan. 4

Drugs: A traffic stop on U.S. Route 224 led to charges of trafficking in drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia against an 18-year-old Hillsville, Pa., man. Two bags with a total of more than 150 grams of suspected marijuana, as well as a digital scale and papers to roll marijuana, were found, police said.

Recovered property: A stolen coin-operated newspaper dispenser box was found near Manor Avenue, though money was missing.
