Lynn, Keller lead Fitch past YCS, 59-43
AUSTINTOWN — Alexis Lynn and Lauren Keller each scored eight of their 10 points in the second half to lead the Austintown Fitch High girls basketball team to a 59-43 victory over Youngstown Christian Monday night.
The Falcons (4-5) outscored the Eagles 36-28 over the final two quarters. Mariah Snowden added 17 points.
For YCS (2-7), Kristi Cooper scored 16 points and Caylin Hayes had 10.
Poland 47, Hubbard 42
HUBBARD — The Bulldogs (5-4) built a 37-28 lead by the end of the third quarter and held on for the victory. Leanna Yeager scored 15 points and Laureen Tadla added 14. Cera Julian scored a game-high 22 points for the Eagles (4-7).
Girard 41, Niles 29
GIRARD — The Indians (3-7) broke open a close game with a 17-7 surge in the fourth quarter. Bryanna Jay and Chelsea Guerrieri scored 13 and 10 points respectively for Girard. Courtney Christie led the Red Dragons (0-10) with 10 points.
Warren JFK 55, Newton Falls 41
WARREN — The Eagles (5-5), pulled away in the fourth quarter with a 19-8 surge. Marissa Nocera scored a game-high 26 points. Paige Klaric added 18 and she had four steals. Erin McBride grabbed eight rebounds. Kelsey McGregor paced the Tigers (7-3) with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Maplewood 59, Mathews 40
CORTLAND — The Rockets (8-3) fell behind 25-24 at intermission, then outscored the Mustangs (4-7) 35-15 in the second half. Ellie Engstrom scored 22 points.Brittany Rumple added 17 and she pulled down 10 rebounds. Michelle Sloan finished with 14 points and she had three assists and three steals. Lindsay Buckner led Mathews with eight points.
Garrettsville 53, LaBrae 25
LEAVITTSBURG — C.J. Carlisle registered 20 points to lead Garrettsville Garfield, which remained undefeated. Garfield (8-0) rolled to a 25-12 halftime lead. Courtney Aldridge had nine points and 10 rebounds for LaBrae (2-8), while Emily Potter had five points and four assists.
