Hundreds of accidents logged on area's icy roads

A mix of rain and ice made roads slick and caused hundreds of accidents in the area and all over Ohio on Tuesday.

In Trumbull County, the 911 dispatch center reported 220 traffic accidents between 3 and 7:15 p.m.

Trumbull County 911 Supervisor Dale Hahne said there were no fatalities, but some motorists were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. He also cautioned people to stay off the roads if at all possible.

“It’s been nothing really serious ... no major injuries,” he said. “We’re trying to let people know to stay off the road.”
