Tuesday's Best Bets on TV

“The Biggest Loser: Couples” (8 p.m., NBC): It’s a new year and time to shed those pounds. “The Biggest Loser: Couples” has a group of twosomes — including grandparents, best friends and former plus-size models — dealing with some weighty issues.

“Scrubs” (9 p.m., ABC): The hysterical doctors of “Scrubs” launch their eighth season on a different network. That’s not the only change: Courteney Cox arrives as Dr. Kelso’s replacement.

“Nip/Tuck” (10 p.m., FX): What? Do we see crow’s feet and age spots developing on “Nip/Tuck”? Not if Sean and Christian can help it. The two cut-ups return for more crazy adventures in Beverly Hills.

“10 Items or Less” (11 p.m., FX): Life for the employees of the Greens & Grains grocery store doesn’t promise to get any easier — or any less funny — as “10 Items or Less” returns for its third season.

The late-night TBS comedy, which relies on both scripts and improvisation, stars co-creator John Lehr as Leslie Pool, the dedicated but hapless manager who’s facing new challenges at the store he inherited.

Foremost among them: rival SuperValue-Mart’s effort to drive Greens & Grains out of business. Heading the effort is Mercedes “Mercy” P. Jones (Kim Coles of “In Living Color”).

Leslie is determined to protect the staff, including produce diva Yolanda (Roberta Valderrama); maintenance man Carl (Bob Clendenin), father of Yolanda’s son; and butcher Todd (Chris Payne Gilbert), a favorite with the ladies.
