AMERICAN HISTORY \ Feng shui edition Feng shui expert Monica Hess analyzes three great American homes:

Mount Vernon

“George Washington’s home at Mount Vernon supported him in his climb to the top. Water stars had good support from the Potomac and from the house position at the top of the hill. Mountain stars, however, lacked any real support. Mountain stars need solid forms to protect and support the people. Without this support, Washington was vulnerable to illness and an early death.” (He died in 1799 at age 67.)

Monticello

“At Jefferson’s Monticello, we find similar landforms. The house has more than adequate support for most water stars, and little or no support for the stars in charge of health. Monticello was constantly the site of sickness and death for Jefferson and his family. It was also where his mind was working at its best.”

My Old Kentucky Home

“My Old Kentucky Home sits on a hill in Bardstown, with a history that includes fame, fortune, poverty and deathly sickness. Again, the life of the family can be followed by examining the chart of the house. During the early days, the proper stars were well-supported. As time went on, the house worked against Madge Rowan until 1884, the second period, when the 2-water star entered through the front door and brought money back to My Old Kentucky Home.”
