Missionary to speak
NEW WATERFORD — Christine Greenwell, a missionary in Mexico, will speak Jan. 11 at East Fairfield United Methodist Church, state Route 558. Her presentations will be at the 9:30 a.m. traditional service, the 11:15 contemporary service and the 6 p.m. youth meeting. She will tell of her experiences as a missionary and the programs she has developed in Mexico.
World Gospel Mission, Marion, Ind., is an interdenominational missionary organization with about 300 missionaries and support staff on five continents. Greenwell of Hudson, Ohio, has served in Mexico for eight years.
Guest speaker
VIENNA — Michael Voris, president of St. Michael’s Media and host of the television program, “The One True Faith,” will be featured in a presentation from 3 to 5 p.m. Jan. 10 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, 291 Scoville Drive. His topic will be “The Death of a People, Nation and Civilization: Worshipping the Demons of Infant Sacrifice.”
Jubilee Day
SHARON, Pa. — Deacon George Footman, president of Mercer County Unit of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, will speak at the annual Jubilee Day service at 4 p.m. Sunday at Ruth African Methodist Episcopal Churh, 95 Connelly Blvd. The Rev. Carol Missik, senior pastor of Living Word Church in Hermitage, Pa., will speak. It is believed that the Rev. Mrs. Missik, secretary of Shenango Valley Ministerial Association, is the first Caucasian to stand at the pulpit for this service.
Blessing of water
YOUNGSTOWN — Eastern Orthodox Clergy Association of the Mahoning Valley will hold a Blessing of Water service at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Lake Glacier in Mill Creek Park. The group will meet in the parking lot off of Glenwood Avenue for the service on the water’s edge.
Rosary cenacle
YOUNGSTOWN — The Shrine of Our Lady, Comforter of the Afflicted, 517 S. Belle Vista Ave., and Queen of the Holy Rosary Prayer Group will hold a rosary cenacle at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the shrine.

EAST PALESTINE — Phil Bartholomew will be guest speaker at the worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at First United Presbyterian Church, 109 W. Rebecca St. He is youth director at the church.
Orthodox services
YOUNGSTOWN — Sts. Peter and Paul Ukranian Orthodox Church, 1025 N. Belle Vista Ave., will hold a Christmas Eve service at 8 p.m. Tuesday and Christmas Day service at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. The church follows the Julian calendar.
City Prayer Team
YOUNGSTOWN — City Prayer Team of Youngstown will meet at 10 a.m. today at Fifth Avenue Community Church, 1361 Fifth Ave., for its monthly city-wide prayer gathering.
Epiphany service
YOUNGSTOWN — First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave., will hold a candlelight service at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday for Epiphany, the day commemorating the manisfestation of salvation in the Gentile world and the end of the 12 days of Christmas. The Rev. Nick Mager and Frances Reid will lead the service, focusing on the story of the Magi following the star and presenting gifts to the Christ Child in Bethlehem.
Program on Aglow
ALLIANCE — Loretta Potento will speak at 10 a.m. Jan. 6 at the Perkins Pancake House. The cost is $3. An optional lunch is available. She has worked as president of the Canton Aglow Lighthouse and is now serving as vice president of development in the central portion of the state.
