Brown leads JFK to 68-58 victory over Champion
CHAMPION — Nick Brown scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds Friday to lead the Warren JFK High basketball team to a 68-58 victory over Champion.
With the game tied 36-36 at the end of the third quarter, the Eagles (4-3) outscored the Golden Flashes (2-5) 32-22 to prevail.
Stephen Procopio and Deante Stubbs chipped in with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Mike Smith, Tyler Day and Derek Sumner led the Golden Flashes with 13, 11 and 10 points.
Lake 75, Fitch 58
UNIONTOWN — Eric Braxton led the Falcons (2-5, 0-2 Federal League) with 13 points. Terry Terrigno scored nine while William Mahone and Jon Ballard each had eight.
Canfield 58, Akron North 48
CANFIELD — Justen Vrabel scored 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds for the Cardinals (4-3). Casey Carroll scored 11 points while Eli Lamberson made five assists.
Akron North dropped to 3-3.
Western Reserve 44, East Palestine 41
EAST PALESTINE — Braxton Mascher scored a game-high 21 points for the losing Bulldogs (6-2).
Mascher’s points that included 16 of the Bulldogs’ 18 points in the second half. He pulled down seven rebounds while Austin Cope made five assists.
The Blue Devils (3-3) built a 27-23 halftime lead, but the Bulldogs battled back to tie it 37-37 heading in to the fourth quarter.
Justin Lude led the Blue Devils (3-3) with 14 points.
Lake Center 68, Columbiana 64
COLUMBIANA — Shane Byler scored 19 points to lead Lake Center. Ned Ring scored 18 points and Jesse Coblentz contributed 11.
For the Clippers (4-2), Kevin Blinsky scored 17 points, Travis Denmeade 13 and Tyler Denmeade 11.
Sebring 74, Bristol 68
BRISTOLVILLE — Devin Weekly of the Trojans (5-4) poured in 27 points while Aaron VanKirk added 12 and Travis Irwin 11.
The Trojans, ahead 57-39 at the end of the third quarter, held off a late rally 29-17 by the Panthers (1-7) in the final period.
Zack Elza, Chris Collins and John Evans paced the Panthers with 18, 12 and 11 points, respectively.
