KSUTC seeks nominations for awards

STAFF REPORT

WARREN — Nominations are being accepted through Feb. 14 for Distinguished Alumni Awards and Founders Awards at Kent State Trumbull.

The awards will be presented at the second annual Kent Trumbull Founders Day celebration May 2.

Alumni are defined as individuals who attended the Trumbull Campus for any length of time. Degree completion is not a criterion. Founders are defined as individuals who have been instrumental in the life of the Trumbull Campus. Nomination forms are available at www.trumbull.kent.edu (click on the Alumni/Advancement link).

In addition, two special reunions are being planned as part of Founders Day.

The first will honor the 1954-55 Teacher Cadet students, who were actually the “beginning” of the Trumbull branch.

Because of the baby boom and shortage of elementary teachers, these students enrolled in evening classes at Warren G. Harding High School to complete a teaching degree.

The second reunion will highlight the 40th anniversary of the men’s basketball program, which began in 1968-69.

Although the campus no longer sponsors a team, all former players, coaches, cheerleaders and managers are invited to come back and remember the fun, friendships and excitement.

For more information about the reunions or nominations, contact Advancement Officer Cheryl Lewis at (330) 675-8807 or clewis19@kent.edu.
