GROVE CITY, Pa. — Maggie Kishbaugh has been named as the twelfth recipient of the annual Spirit Award by Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV.
Kishbaugh is a secretary in the Special Education department at the intermediate unit office in Grove City.
The award, presented by the intermediate unit’s Labor & Management Committee, was created to recognize a support staff individual who exemplifies excellence on the job, caring involvement and involvement in the community.
Kishbaugh, a 19-year employee, was nominated by several employees from the organization. Recipients are chosen by a selection committee representing all areas of the intermediate unit.
“I believe the Spirit Award was named after Maggie Kishbaugh. I appreciate the difference she has made in my life and the lives of those who know her, work with her, and most of all, respect the best model I know of a true woman of spirit,” said Cecelia H. Yauger, intermediate unit executive director.
Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV provides educational services to public schools in Mercer, Lawrence and Butler counties in Western Pennsylvania.
Its Special Education department serves pupils with special needs. Last year, there were 8,204 pupils identified in area schools with special needs.
“Maggie has been my ‘right hand’ for many years and an integral part of the Special Education secretarial pool,” said Terri Clark, fiscal manager in the Special Education department. “She is honest, loyal, trustworthy, dependable, extremely hardworking and her zany sense of humor keeps all of us on our toes.”
