United 80, Southern 75

HANOVERTON — Trailing 55-52 after three quarters, United rallied to topple Southern. Jeremy Walker tossed in 21 points and pulled down 18 rebounds to lead the Eagles (12-8. United finished with five players in double figures, while Zack Taylor added 18 points. Andrew Diaz led Southern (9-11) with 21 points and Ethan Batch had 18 on six 3-point goals.

West Branch 62, Salem 51

SALEM — West Branch broke open a close game in the second quarter and then just pulled away from Salem.

Taylor Rockwell led the Warriors (6-14) with 14 points while Matt Tafe and Chance Young each added 10. Salem (11-9) was led by Jordon Strabala with 16 points while Chris Brown added 11.

Akron Springfield 81, Southeast 70

RAVENNA — Chet Brown scored 22 points and led Akron Springfield to a big lead and then held off Southeast. Joe DeJacimo led the Pirates (1-19, 1-13) with 17 points, while Joe Le-Mon and Ozzie Thomas each added 15 points.

Kennedy Catholic 67, Vision Quest 53

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Kyle Randall scored 34 points as the Eagles (21-2) clinched the District 10 Class A title. Phil Kaikis scored 11 points while Andra Jones had 11 rebounds and nine blocked shots. Kennedy Catholic advances to a tournament game that will be played on March 6 against an opponent to be announced.

Cambridge 81, Beaver Local 42

BELMONT — Cambridge was too much for Beaver local in the Division II sectional opener at Ohio University-Belmont Thursday. Cambridge made 27-for-60 from the field and 25-for-34 from the foul line. Kyle Cox scored 17 points to lead Cambridge while Shayne Leggett added 12, Thomas Norris 11 with four assists and Winston Turner 11 points. Taylor Leppla contributed eight points and as many rebounds and three steals to aid the winners. Shawn Mercer had 13 points for Beaver Local (1-20) while Jake Lunders added six rebounds, five points and four assists.
