FLOOD CONTROL

FLOOD CONTROL

What’s proposed

Flood money: The state is expected to release $3 million next month that would allow a partnership to buy flood-prone properties along the Blanchard River in Findlay and Ottawa.

The plan: The Northwest Ohio Flood Mitigation Partnership wants to tear down the homes and use the land for green space, flood walls and riverbank restructuring.

The cost: City and county leaders need $50 million to cover their share of the costs of new levees, flood walls and other measures to reduce flooding.
