Bus safety tips
Here’s what kids and their parents can do to make school bus traveling safer.
FOR PUPILS
kBe alert to traffic. Check both ways for cars before stepping off of the bus.
kMake eye contact with the bus driver and wait for his or her signal before crossing the street.
kWalk in front of the bus to cross the street, never in back.
kWhile waiting for the bus, stay in a safe place, away from the street.
kNever go near or under a bus to retrieve something.
kBefore leaving the sidewalk, look for the flashing red lights.
FOR PARENTS
kReview safety tips with your child regularly.
kGet to know the parents of other riders to learn about the other children on the bus.
kTeam up with other parents to monitor bus stops and routes. Voice concerns immediately to the school district.
