Tinseltown: Minors must be accompanied by adult

BOARDMAN — Cinemark USA is changing its policy for minors on weekend evenings at its Tinseltown multiplex theater.

Beginning Friday, all patrons under age 17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to see any movie on Friday and Saturday after 6 p.m. Parents or guardians must stay and watch the same movie with their child on those evenings. The rule is in effect for all films, regardless of rating.

The new policy has been established in response to customer requests for more supervision of exuberant, younger moviegoers, especially for the typically crowded weekend evening showings. Moviegoers under 17 can still come to the Tinseltown without a parent at any time Sunday through Thursday and before 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Rolling Stone raves about Jellybricks video

The video for the Harrisburg, Pa.-based pop-rock band The Jellybricks has been called “the first clever viral video of 2009” by Rollingstone.com, the online version of the magazine. The Jellybricks, fronted by Boardman native Larry Kennedy, play Youngstown several times a year.

In the video for the song “Ruin Us” (from the band’s latest CD “Goodnight to Everyone”), the band members use their doppelgangers from the Rock Band 2 video game to perform the song. To check it out, go to Rollingstone.com/rockdaily and search for Jellybricks.

Making the video took many hours of playing, editing and sculpting their doppelgangers into the game, bassist Garrick Chow told the online magazine.
