“The Black List: Vol. 2” (8 p.m., HBO): On “The Black List: Volume 2,” film critic Elvis Mitchell presents a second round of interviews with influential black Americans, including actor-director Tyler Perry, country singer Charley Pride, tennis champ Venus Williams, activist Angela Davis and more.

“Smallville” (8 p.m., The CW): Another reason to carefully examine your mail: On “Smallville,” Clark receives an anonymous package containing a crystal from the Arctic. Naturally, the crystal activates, sending Clark and Lois to a place called the Phantom Zone.

“NEWBOs” (9 p.m., CNBC): “NEWBOs: The Rise of America’s New Black Overclass” is a one-hour documentary that examines the growing wave of young black multimillionaires emerging from the sports, media and entertainment industries.

“The Chris Isaak Hour” (10 p.m., Bio): On the premiere of “The Chris Isaak Hour,” country superstar Trisha Yearwood starts things off with a song accompanied by Isaak and his band, Silvertone. Only then does Isaak sit down with his guest for a cozy chat. That’s the format for Isaak’s new talk-and-music series, airing Thursday at 10 p.m. on the Bio channel. Singer-songwriter-actor Isaak previously starred in the Showtime comedy “The Chris Isaak Show” and has released nine albums. On his new series, he intersperses talk and performance for a well-rounded visit with each guest.
