East High girls fall 52-48 to Lake; Champion rolls

ALLIANCE —Monet Oliver scored 13 of her 20 points in the second half as the East High girls basketball team staged a valiant comeback before falling to second-seeded Uniontown Lake 52-48 in a Division I sectional semifinal Tuesday at Alliance High School.

Reshayla Taylor added 16 points for the Panthers (11-10), who fell behind 33-16 at halftime.

Cindy Netti scored 16 points and Lauren Myers 11 for Lake (17-4).

Division III Champion 47, Beachwood 18

ASHTABULA — Champion rolled past Beachwood and Burton Berkshire dropped Middlefield Cardinals 55-10 in sectional openers at Lakeside High School.

Details of those games were not reported.

Division IV Warren JFK 69, Southern 49

HUBBARD — Paige Klaric hit five 3-pointers and finished with 29 points to lead JFK in a sectional opener at Hubbard High School.

Marissa Nocera added 17 points for the Eagles (8-12), who will meet top-seeded Lowellville at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Maddy Dowling and Ashley Russell each scored 13 points and Hannah Kelm added 12 for Southern (2-18), which trailed 19-10 after the first quarter.
