Man bound over to Trumbull grand jury on aggravated burglary charge

NEWTON FALLS — One of two men charged with breaking into a house on Palmyra Road in Lordstown on Jan. 27 has been bound over to a Trumbull County grand jury on an aggravated burglary charge.

Timothy J. Shearer, 29, of North Bradfield Street, Garrettsville, waived his preliminary hearing in Newton Falls Municipal Court before having his case bound over. His bond of $100,000 was continued.

The preliminary hearing for his alleged accomplice, Jerry L. Lough, 30, of Newton Drive, Newton Falls, was reset for 9:30 a.m. April 21. He faces charges of aggravated burglary and receiving stolen property.

A Lordstown police detective says the two are part of a larger burglary ring that took items such as lawn mowers from locations in Trumbull, Mahoning and Portage counties.

The owner of a home on Palmyra Road came home to find a pickup truck in his driveway and two men inside the house.

The homeowner struggled with the two men before the two men left without getting anything.
