Boardman wins tourney opener

ALLIANCE — Darryce Moore and Monica Touvelle combined to outscore Louisville as the Boardman High girls registered a 65-35 decision on Monday in the Division I sectional basketball tournament.

Moore scored 26 points, including 12 in the second quarter when the Spartans (14-7) established a 33-15 advantage.

Touvelle scored eight of her 21 points over the final eight minutes.

Desi Givens scored nine points for Louisville (8-13).

Saturday Boardman will meet GlenOak (7-13) at 1 p.m. in a sectional final at Alliance High School.

Division III

ASHTABULA — Badger was eliminated from the sectional tournament by Northeastern Athletic Conference rival Pymatuning Valley, 53-34.

Pymatuning Valley improved to 21-0.

In Monday’s other game, Grand Valley defeated Wickliffe, 22-16.

Division II

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — East Liverpool was eliminated by Wintersville Indian Creek, 69-39, in a sectional championship game.

The Potters finished their season with a 7-15 record.
