YOUNGSTOWN — The names and conditions of two gunshot victims from the city’s North Side — including a 6-year-old boy — remained undisclosed Sunday night.

Mahoning County Coroner David Kennedy said information will be released to the public today.

The shooting, which occurred just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday in the 900 block of Delaware Avenue, involved the boy, who police said was shot in the foot at 945 Delaware, and a man who was found in the house across the street.

The man was found in an upstairs bedroom with a bullet wound to the head.

A small rifle was reported to have been found under the adult victim, and a gun magazine was found on the floor near him.

Police said they also found three other firearms on the first floor of the house, as well as bloodstains on the dining room carpet.

Both victims were taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center.

A spokeswoman from the hospital said that as of Sunday night, only one victim was still under the hospital’s care. She said she was unable to specify which victim.

A next-door neighbor, who declined to give her name, said Saturday night she heard a series of gunshots that sounded like firecrackers.

She then heard another round of fire that she said “almost gave” her a heart attack.

Another man, who also declined to be identified and who lives four blocks away, said he heard the shots and it sounded like they came from two guns.

Police said they are still investigating the shooting and looking into possible suspect leads.
