Valley women to join in worldwide event
YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Chapter of UN-USA, the League of Women Voters of Greater Youngstown, the Youngstown Branch of the American Association of University Women, and the Altrusa Club of Youngstown have joined forces to sponsor the sixth annual observance of International Women’s Day on March 12.
The theme for the day will be “Women and Men: United to End Violence Against Women.”
The celebration will begin with a social at 5:30 p.m. at the Park Vista Gathering Room on Fifth Avenue, followed by a dinner at 6. Afterward, Sumedha Sethi, a senior biology major at Youngstown State University, will speak on her experiences and observations of women living in India.
The cost for the dinner is $12, and reservations should be made by March 6 with one of the respective sponsoring organizations. Reservations for Youngstown Chapter of the League of Women Voters should be made by calling Jane Beilby, (330) 799-8480.
