Family dinner honors Whites on anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur White
YOUNGSTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. Arthur White of Youngstown are being honored today by family members as they observe their 60th wedding anniversary.
Joining the couple for a dinner at their home will be some of their children and their spouses, Jean and Jeffrey Smallwood, Debra Baraka, and Almeta and Steve Rollins, all of Youngstown, and Christine and George Hennings of Mineral Ridge. Their daughters are hosting the dinner.
Other family members, unable to attend but sending congratulatory messages, are Gwen and Ozzie Wilkins of Dallas, Texas; and Barbara Hernandez of Houston, Texas. There are 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren in the family.
The former Mary L. Tyson and Mr. White were united in marriage on Feb. 20, 1949, in Clayton, Ala. They moved to Ohio in 1949.
Mrs. White was a lunch aide with Youngstown schools prior to retiring. Mr. White, who is also retired, was employed as a contractor with LTV Steel and was self-employed at White Contractor.
For 50 years, the couple have been faithful members of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she has been a deaconess for 50 years, and he has served as a deacon for 46 years.
