Boardman’s Ashley Aldan qualifies for state in Div. I

CLEVELAND — Boardman High swimmer Ashley Aldan has qualified for the Division I state competition.

Saturday at Cleveland State University, Aldan finished fifth in the 100 butterfly race with a time of 59.34 seconds. The top five finishers in each event qualify for state.

Aldan also finished sixth in the 100 freestyle with a school-record time of 53.10.

Aldan set two other school records. Her 200 medley relay time finished in 1:55.56. The other members are Stephanie Sfara, Katie Henson and Megan Palmer.

In the 200 freestyle relay, Aldan’s time 25.02 set a record.

Boardman finished 14th with 45 points. Canfield was 18th with 37 points. Solon was the regional meet winner.
