Power outage reported in Boardman this morning

BOARDMAN — An equipment failure caused a power outage early today for 1,500 residents north of Western Reserve Road and south of Scotland Drive, said Paul Harkey, First Energy spokesman. He said the first call came in at 4:22 a.m. Power was restored by 6:09 a.m. Not all of the 1,500 were without power that long, he said. An exposed switch on a pole on Market Street at Forest Lake Drive burned, he said. It’s possible the equipment failure was caused by salt kicking up from the roadway and hitting the switch, he said.
