WBO/WBC middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik and WBC No. 1 contender and mandatory challenger Marco Antonio Rubio weigh-in at the Chevrolet Centre in Youngstown Friday.

YOUNGSTOWN — Marco Antonio Rubio and Kelly Pavlik each made the 160 pound weight limit Friday in preparation for Saturday's WBC/WBO middleweight title fight at the Chevy Centre.

Rubio weighed in at 160 pounds. He was the first on the scale. Kelly Pavlik then weighed in at 159 pounds.

About 500 people attended Friday's weigh-in and while they noise level didn't quite reach the heights of Pavlik's Atlantic City weigh-ins, it was a strong show of support from the community, particularly considering it took place at 1 p.m. downtown on a cold, blustery day.

Pavlik left immediately after tipping the scales for nearby Cafe Cimmento, which is located two blocks away downtown.

Friday's weigh-in was taped and highlights are expected to air on ESPN's SportCenter later today.

Seven bouts are on Saturday's undercard, which begins at 7:30 p.m. Two Youngstown heavyweights, Brandon Winner (1-5, 0 KOs) and Billy Greenawalt (1-4, 1 KO) will open the show with a four-round bout. In the second bout, super lightweight Jake Giuriceo of Struthers will meet Cleveland's Michael Suarez in a four-round matchup of two boxers making their pro debuts. Giuriceo weighed in at 150 pounds, while Winner was 221 1/2 and Greenawalt 207 1/2.

Those are the only two bouts featuring local fighters before the main event. For the complete undercard, along with much more coverage, read Saturday's Vindicator and stay tuned to Vindy.com.
