LORDSTOWN — A Newton Falls woman died from her injuries Saturday from a single-car accident Feb. 8 on Palymra Road.
Gidget S. Hurst, 36, of Ophelia Street, suffered head and other injuries when she was ejected from a 2005 Ford Mustang convertible she was driving just after midnight Feb. 8.
Because of brain damage, family members removed her from life support last week, said Brent Milhoan, village police chief.
The accident occurred just north of Ernest Lyntz Road when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and overturned multiple times, ejecting her and a passenger, Mark Hauck, 41, of Locust Court, Newton Falls.
Hauck was treated at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital and released the next day.
Neither Hurst nor Hauck were wearing seat belts.
Through investigation, police were satisfied that Hurst was the driver, Milhoan said.
Police suspect alcohol and excessive speed were involved in the accident, he said, adding that it appeared the vehicle was going well over the 35-mph limit. Road conditions were dry.
