Dinner to raise funds to support two agencies

YOUNGSTOWN — St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., will sponsor a spaghetti dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 1 as a benefit for St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Catholic Relief Service in Haiti.

Meals include salad, bread, dessert and beverage, and the cost is $6.50 for adults and $3.50 for children 8 and under. Carryouts will be available.

St. Vincent de Paul, which is supported mainly by private donations, served 73,498 meals to the needy in this area last year, an average of 200 meals per day, six days a week.

Catholic Relief Services is one of the largest U.S. humanitarian organizations working in Haiti, a country of 8 million people, most of whom live on $1 a day. CRS provides health and nutrition aid, education, water and sanitation services, HIV and AIDS care, and numerous other relief services.
