Artists of Rust Belt offers music, handcrafted beer

YOUNGSTOWN — The historic B&O Station, 530 Mahoning Ave., will be the site of Artists of the Rust Belt, an exhibition of works by regional artists, from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.

Original artworks will be available for purchase, while acoustic musicians perform in an open mic setting. Handcrafted beers, made on the site by Rust Belt Brewing Co., will be on tap. Food prepared by chef Christopher Bonacci will be available.

Participating artists include Patrick Buckohr, Lynn Cardwell, Rick Fischer, Samantha Grbnick, Susan Green, Patti Green, Daniel Horne, Patrick Hyland, Shelly Krok, Marcie Roepke-Applegate, Kyle Valentini, Jason Van Hoose, Jason Vaughn and Lisa Zitello. All will be on site to discuss their work, ideas and processes. Art will include painting, ceramics, sculpture, photography and jewelry.

Youngstown State University’s archeology department will display artifacts from a dig of an 18th-century blast furnace.

Sunday’s event is sponsored by Rust Belt Brewing Co. and Artists of the Rust Belt. Space is full for Sunday’s event, but artists and vendors interested in showcasing at future events can contact Daniel at (330) 219-9539.
