Pa. substitute teaching class is next week


GROVE CITY, Pa. — Adults with a bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited college or university and a desire to work with children can become an emergency substitute teacher in the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV Emergency Substitute Teacher Consortium.

The intermediate unit, which provides educational services to public schools in Mercer, Lawrence and Butler counties, will hold its 20th substitute teacher training session Feb. 23, 26 and 27.

Potential subs are required to attend the 2 one one-half-day session before applying to the Pennsylvania Department of Education for an emergency substitute certificate.

Certified substitutes can teach in any of the 25 school districts in the consortium and in intermediate unit classrooms.
