Youngstown man charged with Warren robbery


WARREN — Alvin P. Traylor, 41, of East Boston Avenue, Youngstown, pleaded innocent today to robbery and resisting arrest charges filed in connection with the robbery of the B.P. gas station at 1290 East Market Street.

Police said a man believed to be Traylor walked into the station at the corner of Laird and East Market at about 5:50 a.m. Monday, said he had a gun and demanded money. He escaped with cash, but a gun was never found.

The robber fled in a sport utility vehicle, which was later spotted on Niles Road Southeast. He was apprehended in the 1700 block of Brier Street Southeast after a lengthy foot chase, police said.

Judge Thomas Gysegem of Warren Municipal Court set bond today at $25,000 and set a preliminary hearing for 1:30 p.m. Feb. 24.

If convicted of robbery, a felony, he could get up to eight years in prison. Resisting arrest is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 90 days in jail.
