WGH, Poland stay in boys poll

Warren Harding and Poland remained in the weekly high school boys basketball poll while McDonald fell out after a one-week appearance.

In voting by sportswriters and broadcasters around the state, the Raiders (14-2) are ranked No. 7 in Division I, dropping three spots after losing to Zanesville, 44-43, on Saturday night.

Columbus Northland (18-1), which has held the top spot for every week but one, holds a 22-point lead on No. 2 Cincinnati Princeton (16-1) in the big-school division.

Middletown (16-1), Cleveland Glenville (15-1) and Canton Timken (17-1) round out the top five.

Cincinnati Moeller is sixth, followed by Harding, Barberton, Dublin Scioto and Canton GlenOak.

The Bulldogs (13-4), who have won five straight games, are No. 13 in Div. II.

St. Paris Graham (17-0) continues to lead the voting by a substantial margin over runner-up Circleville Logan Elm.

The rest of the top 10 are Cincinnati Indian Hill, Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary, Cleveland Benedictine, Wilmington, Dover, Columbus DeSales, Dayton Thurgood Marshall and Chillicothe.

Smithville (17-0) leads Div. III over Findlay Liberty-Benton. Casstown Miami East, Anna and Ottawa-Glandorf make up the top five, followed by Kirtland, Piketon, St. Henry, Cleveland Central Catholic and Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy.

New Knoxville (18-0) continues to lead Div. IV, with Berlin Hiland (18-0) a close second.

The rest of the top 10 are South Charleston Southeastern, Oak Hill, Cleveland Heights Lutheran East, Bedford Chanel, Newark Catholic, Cincinnati Seven Hills, Dayton Jefferson and Plymouth.

The final poll is next week, with the boys state tournament starting March 2.
