Jenkins-Oliver wedding to be in Washington

LAKEWOOD, Wash. — Announcing their engagement and plans for their approaching marriage are Shawnette Nicole Jenkins, formerly of Youngstown, and Derrick Eugene Oliver, both of 9100 Lakewood Drive SW.

The couple will be married at 4 p.m. April 4 at Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center in Tacoma, Wash., where their reception will take place immediately after the ceremony. Invitations will be extended for both.

The bride-elect graduated from Trumbull Business College in Warren with an associate of applied business in accounting. She is a resident services specialist with Pierce County Housing Authority in Puyallup, Wash.

The prospective groom earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s in electrical engineering with a Microsoft certification from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla. He is a senior HR supervisor with the U.S. Army at Fort Lewis, Wash. He is in his 17th year of active duty as a sergeant first class with the 3rd Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, and has participated in eight separate overseas contingency operations, including two deployments to Operation Iraqi Freedom.
