Free fruit will be distributed in Sebring

YOUNGSTOWN — Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley received approximately 30,000 pounds of fresh fruit from Harry and David. The donation includes pears, oranges and gourmet gift baskets comprised of fruit, nuts, cheese and candies.

The Food Bank will distribute 9,000 pounds of this donation at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at The Concern, 125 West Ohio Avenue Sebring. “We are extremely grateful to Harry and David for this generous donation,” said Rebecca Martinez, director of Resource Development. “Fresh produce is essential to proper nutrition and is often cost prohibitive for struggling families.”

Second Harvest Food Bank provides food to 155 hunger relief organizations in the tri-county area. These organizations include church pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters and shelters for battered women.
