Habitat for Humanity ReStore offers low-cost home improvement and building supplies, along with other household goods.
Locations: 480 Youngstown-Poland Road, Struthers, and 1285 E. Pidgeon Road, Salem.
Hours: In Struthers, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. In Salem, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays though customers may look at merchandise from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays.
Staff: In Struthers, Linda Hartwig is store manager, and T.J. Stamper, a part-time staffer. In Salem, Rich Lobdell is store manager.
Donations: ReStore accepts donations of furniture, home decor, office furniture and equipment, building materials, wood products, double-pane windows, computers, mattresses, large appliances less than eight years old, small appliances in working condition, garden equipment, tools, hardware, light fixtures, plumbing and electrical supplies and unopened paints and supplies.
Not accepted: Clothing, shoes, glass, opened cans of paint, flammable items, pianos and organs.
Volunteer opportunities: In Struthers, volunteers are needed to help as cashier, donation pickup driver, warehouse worker, salesclerk, volunteer coordinator and housekeeper. Hartwig said the store has about 15 adult volunteers, between 40 and 45 high school volunteers and college students from Youngstown State University and Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pa. Hartwig said students from Struthers High School are there through work-study and special-education students from Canfield High School help clean up the store. Dare Banwo, a YSU master of business administration student, is an intern and does marketing.
In Salem, pick up an application to volunteer. The store has some 20 adult and youth volunteers.
