CLEVELAND — The Mooney/Ursuline hockey club finished runner up in the Rock and Roll Cup Tournament.

M/U defeated the Fremont Ice Wolves 3-2, the West Virginia Morgantown Blades 6-4 and the New York Hamburg Hawks 4-2 and tied the New York Batavia Ramparts 3-3.

M/U dropped the championship game to the Ontario Vaughan Ragers 3-1.

Brian Styers collected six goals and three assists and Alex Figuly had four goals and three assists for M/U.

Dean Macklen added four goals and two assists while Cory Timmings was in with two goals and two assists.

Armstrong’s time-trial bike is stolen

SANTA ROSA, Calif. — Lance Armstrong’s time-trial bike was stolen from the Team Astana truck during the night before Stage 1 of the Tour of California.

Armstrong rode the bike to a 10th-place finish Saturday in Sacramento during the Tour prologue. The race is his first competitive appearance in his native country since the seven-time Tour de France winner began his cycling comeback last month.

A few hours after the time trial, someone removed four bikes from the Astana truck outside the team hotel in Sacramento.

Lynch arrested

CULVER CITY, Calif. — Authorities say Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch has been arrested in Southern California on a weapons possession charge.

Culver City police said in a statement Sunday that Lynch was arrested after officers confronted him and two other men in a car and found a loaded firearm in the vehicle.

Lynch was arrested Wednesday for possession of a concealed firearm after officers determined the gun belonged to him. He was released that night on $35,000 bail.

Big A’s Caposella

NEW YORK — Not for Silver stretched his unbeaten streak to three, rallying for a 11‚Ñ4 length win over Wildcat Brief Sunday in the $69,850 Fred “Cappy” Caposella Stakes for 3-year-olds at Aqueduct.

Having easily won his first two races at Laurel, Not for Silver delivered another strong effort in his stakes debut. Ramon Dominguez guided the colt into contention with a three-wide move turning for home and they steadily advanced to the front.

Not for Silver, trained by Michael Trombetta, earned $41,910 for owner Ted Julio. The time was 1:10.38 for the six furlongs over the fast track.

Pop Artist was fourth followed by Smokin Hero and Gabriel’s Smile.

Gulfstream Hurricane Bertie Stakes

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. — Any Limit turned the tables on Game Face by winning the $122,500 Hurricane Bertie Stakes at Gulfstream Park on Sunday.

Any Limit, beaten last month by Game Face in the First Lady Handicap, drew off to defeat the 2-5 favorite by 11‚Ñ4 lengths in the Grade 3 race for fillies and mares.

Lovely Isle was third, 61‚Ñ4 lengths behind Game Face. Saratoga Tango was fourth and Orinoquia fifth in the small field.

Ridden by Cornelio Velasquez, Any Limit ran 61‚Ñ2 furlongs in 1:15.95 and paid $9.50, $3.20 and $2.20.

Game Face paid $2.10 and $2.10. Lovely Isle returned $2.20 to show.

Beckham hurt

MILAN, Italy — David Beckham hurt his hamstring in AC Milan’s 2-1 loss to Inter Milan on Sunday, days after his MLS team cut off talks of transferring him to the Italian side.

Beckham, who is on loan to AC Milan through March 9, played 56 minutes before being replaced.

He appeared fatigued, having also played a half for England against Spain on Wednesday.

The English superstar had wanted to make a permanent move to AC Milan, to better prepare him for one last go-round with England in the 2010 World Cup.

After the Los Angeles Galaxy rejected the Italian team’s first offer, MLS commissioner Don Garber set a deadline to conclude talks.

When Milan didn’t counteroffer by Friday, the Galaxy announced the matter closed.

Track World Cup Cycling Finals

COPENHAGEN — Germany’s Robert Bartko and Marcel Barth picked up the last gold medal at cycling’s Track World Cup Finals to conclude a three-day meet in which American teenager Taylor Phinney starred by winning two gold medals.

Phinney won the 4K pursuit in a U.S. record 4 minutes, 15.223 seconds, and the 1-kilometer time trial.

The Germans’ victory in the madison also clinched the season overall title and gave Germany the circuit’s nations championship ahead of Netherlands and Britain.

Indoors pole vault record is set

DONETSK, Ukraine — Yelena Isinbayeva has broken her own indoor world pole vault record, first clearing 16 feet, 31‚Ñ2 inches and then 16-43‚Ñ4 at the Pole Vault Stars.

Isinbayeva made her 2009 debut on Sunday, setting a world record at the event for the sixth consecutive year.

The 26-year-old Russian set the previous record at last year’s Pole Vault Stars, clearing 16-23‚Ñ4.
