It’s Presidents Day: What’s open and closed?


A checklist of local, state and federal institutions and local businesses closed various days for the Presidents Day holiday Monday. Residents of communities not listed should check their governmental office schedules.

City offices: Youngstown, Warren, Niles, Salem, New Castle, Newton Falls Municipal Court, closed; Sharon, open.

County offices: Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana, Mercer, Lawrence, closed.

State and federal offices: Closed.

Schools: Youngstown, Boardman, Warren, Niles, Salem, closed Friday and Monday; Sharon, closed Friday, open Monday; New Castle, closed Monday; Youngstown Diocese, closed Monday, check with individual schools regarding Friday.

Universities: Youngstown State, Kent State Trumbull Campus, open.

Western Reserve Transit Authority (WRTA): Closed.

Public libraries: Youngstown-Mahoning County, Kinsman Free Public Library, Hubbard Public Library, Bristol Public Library, Bristolville; McKinley Memorial Library, Niles; open. Warren-Trumbull, all branches closed. Girard Free Library and Newton Falls Public Library, closed.

Stock market: Butler Wick & Co., closed.

Banks: Chase Bank, US Bank in Poland, Boardman, Canfield and Warren area, open.

Charter One, Cortland Banks, Farmers National Bank, First National Bank, Home Federal Savings and Loan, Niles; Huntington Bank, Key Bank, National City of Ohio, National City of Pennsylvania, closed.

First Place Bank, Warren, Austintown, Boardman main, Howland, Liberty, Seville Drive and Struthers, open 10 to 5 p.m.; all other locations closed.

Home Savings & Loan, main office and departments closed, branches open regular hours.

Trash collection: Allison Brothers Inc., 9551 Gibson Road, North Jackson, servicing Austintown, Beaver, Berlin, Boardman, Canfield, Ellsworth, Goshen, Green and North Jackson; Allied Waste, Waste Management, Warren City Environmental Services, open, regular schedules.
