Harvest for Hunger looks to stock shelves
YOUNGSTOWN — The 18th annual Harvest For Hunger Kick-Off is at 9 a.m. Friday at Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley, 2805 Salt Springs Road. Harvest For Hunger is a monthlong food and funds drive during March to help replenish food bank shelves during the spring and summer months when donations taper off.
Last year, the Mahoning Valley raised more than $100,000 and collected 25,000 pounds of food. All food and funds stay in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
If you’re interested in conducting a food or funds drive to benefit the food bank, contact Becky Miller at (330) 792-5522 ext. 20.
You can donate at any local Giant Eagle store or Sparkle Market. Just look for the tear-off coupons at the register and the collection bin in the front of the store.
