nhl roundup \ Friday’s games

Blue Jackets 3, Red Wings 2

COLUMBUS — Jason Williams scored with 6:55 to go to give Columbus a victory over Detroit, ending the Stanley Cup champion Red Wings’ winning streak at six games. Williams, the former Detroit player acquired in a trade with Atlanta on Jan. 15, scored in his third straight game to help the Blue Jackets win their third in a row — all over teams ahead of them in the Western Conference playoff race. The game marked the return of Columbus rookie goalie Steve Mason, who had missed three games while battling mononucleosis. He stopped 32 shots, many while the Red Wings applied heavy pressure in the final minutes.

Devils 1, Bruins 0.

NEWARK, N.J. — Scott Clemmensen had his second straight shutout after going nearly five years without one in the NHL, and Bryce Salvador provided a rare bit of offense for the Devils. Clemmensen, still subbing for the soon-to-return Martin Brodeur, is staking his claim for more playing time down the stretch after the four-time Vezina Trophy winner comes back from the elbow injury that has sidelined him most of the season.

Panthers 2, Rangers 1, SO

SUNRISE, Fla. — Richard Zednik scored the only goal in the shootout, and Tomas Vokoun stopped all four New York attempts in the surging Panthers’ victory. Vokoun ended the shootout when he stopped Nikolai Zherdev’s backhander off a deke.

Sabres 6, Sharks 5, SO

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Derek Roy scored the decisive shootout goal, and had a goal and an assist in regulation in the Sabres’ victory. Jason Pominville, who snapped a 17-game goal drought, forced extra time by scoring with 4 seconds left in the third in a game the Sabres squandered two three-goal leads. Ryan Miller sealed the win by getting his glove out to stop Milan Michalek’s shootout attempt.
