Rockets win Tier 2; Mosley tops 1,000
LOWELLVILLE — An early 13-0 run Wednesday propelled the Lowellville High School girls basketball team to a 66-30 victory over Jackson-Milton.
With the win, the Rockets clinched the Inter-Tri-County League Tier Two title. It was the fourth time in the last seven years that Lowellville (15-3, 13-0) has won a crown.
Emily Carlson, who scored five points in that early run, scored 18 points. Taylor Hvisdak added 17.
The Bluejays, who lost to the Rockets 59-30 earlier in the season, were led by Alyssa Chine with 16 points.
McDonald 56, Sebring 30
MCDONALD — The Blue Devils (12-6, 9-5 ITCL2) rolled to a 32-17 lead by intermission and cruised.
Joh’Vonnie Mosley scored a game-high 24 points. She scored her 1,000th career point with 2 minutes, 22 seconds remaining in the third quarter and has 1,006.
She also grabbed 10 of 31 rebounds and had 15 assists.
Callie Garland had seven assists. Taylor Ward led the Trojans (9-7, 6-7) with 13 points.
Western Reserve 57, Southern 35
BERLIN CENTER — Matti Shahaden scored 19 points and made three steals for the Blue Devils (11-7, 10-2 ITCL2).
Victoria Brown scored 14 points and made five assists.
For the Indians (2-15, 2-10), Maddy Dowling scored 12 points and made seven rebounds.
Wellsville 34, Leetonia 22
LEETONIA — Mikalya Tipton scored 16 points for the Tigers (7-11, 6-7 ITCL2). P.J. Williams had 11 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.
For the Bears (9-10, 7-6), Clarissa Perkins scored 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Lisbon 45, South Range 34
NORTH LIMA — Katie Snoddy had 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists for the Blue Devils (12-6, 8-6 ITCL1).
Megan Reynolds and Abbey Brammer each scored 11 points, with Reynolds pulling down 10 rebounds.
Mindy Jackson had eight points and eight rebounds.
For the Raiders (12-8, 7-7), Emily Seman scored 11 points and had six rebounds. Patty Schuster netted 10 points.
Columbiana 47, East Palestine 29
EAST PALESTINE — Junior post player Katie Witmer had most of her 23 points from the inside as Columbiana dominated against a smaller and flu-affected East Palestine squad.
Hayley Goist added 10 pionts for the winners (11-8, 7-6 ITCL1).
Brooke Duffy’s seven points paced Palestine (3-15, 1-12).
Springfield 48, Mineral Ridge 41
MINERAL RIDGE — The Tigers evened their season record (10-10, 7-7 ITCL1).
Rachael Kennedy scored 13 points for Springfield and Ashley Davis added 12. Lacie Graham led the Rams (2-16, 1-13) with 10 points.
