Beaver Township Park Board seeks director, volunteers for summer program

NORTH LIMA — Spending five or ten days Woodworth or Memorial parks is becoming an annual event for many Beaver Township youths.

Scott Conway, Beaver Township Parks administrator, said that last year the township had to turn away at least a dozen youths looking to attend the summer day camp program at the parks, and this year the park board doesn’t want to see that happen.

“We want as many area youths to come out and enjoy the program and the parks as possible,” Conway said. “We just didn’t have the resources to accommodate the number of kids wanting to participate last year. So this year we’re hoping to expand the program to get more kids involved.”

The park board initiated the summer day camp program two years ago. Township children in grades one through eight are invited to participate in the camp. Registration forms will be available at the township administration office within the next few months and there is no cost to participate.

Meanwhile, officials are accepting applications through Feb. 20 from people interested in serving as this year’s summer day camp youth director.

Volunteers are also needed.
