“The Servant of Two Masters” was written in 1753 by Carlo Goldoni, but a modern adaptation of the play will be presented by Youngstown State University Theater. The play, considered a classic piece of world drama, retains its pace and humor but with fresh dialog that an American ear will grasp. The 22nd annual Penn-Ohio Boat Show is this weekend at the Eastwood Expo Center adjacent to Eastwood Mall in Niles. Crafts on display will range from 12-foot fishing boats to offshore cruisers and include pontoons, racing, high performance, and the ultimate in fishing boats.

Hip-hop duo DaBoonDox will celebrate its love — for music, that is — with a pre-Valentines Day show Friday at Barley, 21 W. Federal St., downtown Youngstown. “We wanted to get away from the usual Valentine's Day Massacre that usually comes with Friday the 13th and incorporate something positive this year,” explained Jeff “DJ” Killin, one-half of the group.
The show is going to be the first time the fellows are going to play without an opening act. Killin will start the evening at 10 p.m. with a DJ set. DaBoonDox will hit the stage around 11:30 p.m.
As usual, expect decorations, stage props and surprises. Admission is $5 (18-and-over only).
The Artists of Mahoning Commons are opening their doors again this weekend for hands-on projects. Stop in any time between noon and 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and, if you like, make a clay project or a jewelry project, at the studios of Lynn Cardwell and Marcie Applegate. Each project is $10, and reservations aren’t necessary. Adults and children are welcome. jRegulars at Kent-Salem’s concerts have been clamoring to see the Kent State Jazz Band, and they will get their chance at 3 p.m. Sunday, when the ensemble performs in concert at the KSU-Salem City Center building, 230 N. Lincoln Ave., Salem. The ensemble is comprised of undergraduate and graduate music students and can play many jazz styles ranging from swing and be-bop to big band, salsa and fusion.
