Warren man faces several drug charges

LIBERTY — Township police charged a Warren man with felony possession of drugs, and misdemeanor resisting arrest, possession of drug abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia after his arrest here.
The arrest took place after an altercation that left one township officer scraped by a used syringe.
According to police reports, the officer was approached Monday night by James Monroe, 25, of Reeves Road while at Speedway on Belmont Avenue.
Monroe reportedly started a conversation about becoming a police officer, but the officer noticed suspected drug paraphernalia sticking out of Monroe’s pocket.
Reports say the officer attempted to place Monroe under arrest, but a scuffle took place. The officer used a Taser on Monroe, but Monroe continued to fight. The officer eventually was scraped by a syringe.
Officers found suspected heroin and various drug paraphernalia items on Monroe.
