High winds cause havoc in Mahoning Valley

Trees and tree limbs downed by high winds were the main cause of power outages that left some 900 Ohio Edison customers throughout Trumbull County and southern Ashtabula County without electricity early this evening, according to Edison spokeswoman, LuAnn Haddad.

Police in Campbell in Mahoning County reported at about 8 p.m. that most of the city was without power.

The Columbiana County Sheriff’s department said there were downed trees and power outages around the county “just like everybody else.”

It was also reported that live wires were down on state Route 14 and state Route 170.

In Youngstown, wires were down and a huge tree was reported blocking Oakwood Avenue on the West Side.
