Bonds reduced for homicide suspects
STAFF REPORT
YOUNGSTOWN — Two suspects in a Nov. 12 South Side homicide, whose bonds were reduced from $500,000 to $100,000 on Monday, made bond and were transferred from Mahoning County Jail to electronically monitored house arrest Tuesday.
Dionne Dawson, 26, and his brother, Dewon Dawson, 25, both of West Myrtle Avenue, were to go on house arrest at separate locations if they made bond, according to an order from Judge Maureen A. Sweeney of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, who reduced their bonds.
The judge also made the same bond reduction for a third suspect, Gerald Hardaway, 27, of Ridge Avenue, who remains jailed.
All three men await trial on a murder charge with a firearm specification in the death of Billy O. McGeorge, 32, whose last known address was on Parkwood Avenue.
McGeorge was found shot to death in a driveway in the 400 block of West Marion Avenue. Police said the motive for the shooting was an ongoing feud.
Members of McGeorge’s family protested the bond reduction.
