Medicaid workshop
WARREN — The Family and Children First Council invites the public to a workshop about Medicaid and managed care.
Have your questions answered about eligibility, enrollment, health checks and transportation. The workshop is from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at Trumbull Community Action Program auditorium, 1230 Palmyra Road.
Door prizes and refreshments are provided.

Special-education law
SALEM — The Family and Community Resource Center, a newly established nonprofit organization, will host “A Morning with Judith Saltzman” from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 21 at Kent State University’s City Center Auditorium, 230 N. Lincoln Ave.
Saltzman is associated with the Cleveland law firm Hickman and Lowder and specializes in special-education law. Her presentation will focus on the updated federal regulations regarding special-education programs.
Other participants include Marilyn Figley with Ohio Legal Rights, and representatives from the Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children with Disabilities, the YWCA Kin & Kids program, Head Start and Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities board.
Participants will receive certificates of attendance provided by the county’s Educational Service Center. Educational professionals in attendance may be eligible for continuing education units.
Preregistration is appreciated and may be done by calling the educational service center at (330) 424-9591 to reserve a seat.
Trees, shrubs available
SALEM — Trees and shrubs for spring 2009 planting can now be ordered from the Columbiana Soil & Water Conservation District.
The nearly 40 species of trees and shrubs are 1 to 4 years old and are up to 36 inches tall. The varieties include items such as Heritage Raspberry, Japanese Red Maple, White Dogwood, Blue Spruce, Spicebush and Northern Pecan.
The trees will be available for pickup April 15, 16 and 17 at the Columbiana SWCD office, 1834-B S. Lincoln Ave. You can come browse the selection of trees during these dates or pre-order to guarantee that you get the trees you want.
