SCIENCE FAIR | Top finishers


The Youngstown city schools’ annual All-City Science Fair competition took place Saturday at East High School. The winners were:

Fifth grade

First place: Kaitlyn Geisel, life science; Nacko Stanford, math; and Alex Schlosser, physical science; all of William H. McGuffey Elementary School.

Second: Magdelana De La Paz and LaRozia Tolbert, physical science; and Tiffany Irby, math, McGuffey.

Third: Cheryl Wright, Diamond Cuevas, Alipoun Makaabya, Nicholas Raushenbach and Rochelle Eichenberger, all physical science, McGuffey.

Sixth grade

First: Esperanza Cabrera, environmental science; and Miranda Fonce, physical science, McGuffey.

Second: Jumarie Figeuora, physical science, P. Ross Berry Middle School; and Nathaniel Harris, physical science, McGuffey.

Third: Anthony Donnorummo and Jo’Nathan Russ, physical science, McGuffey; and Karesha Brown and Kenneth Cunningham, physical science, Paul C. Bunn Elementary School.

Seventh grade

First: Treshawn Thomas, physical science, Hayes Middle School; and Jasmine Huckaba, environmental science, Volney Rogers Middle School.

Eighth grade

First: Nicole Miller, life science; Alexis Myers, physical science; and Khalia Douglas, environmental science, Volney.

Second: Charisse Brown, physical science, Volney.

Grades 9-12

First: Dominique Bell, physical science, East High School; and Michael Giles, environmental science, Chaney High School/Choffin Career & Technical Center.
