Better Business Bureau offers insurance program
YOUNGSTOWN — The Better Business Bureau has a new insurance program offered through the BBB Healthcare Alliance. The Canton, Cleveland and Youngstown Better Business Bureaus formed the alliance to negotiate affordable health insurance options for BBB Accredited Businesses.
Significa Insurance Group is offering premium discounts of up to 5 percent and providing multiple plan options to Alliance members.
The Significa products offered through the Alliance encourage employee wellness through online health management tools and personal health coaching. Each benefit design waives the deductible for the first $500 of preventative care per insured annually.

New boutique caters to breast cancer survivors
GIRARD — Boardman Medical Supply has opened a new division, Pink Promises Boutique, at 300 N. State St. The boutique features brassieres, breast forms and specialty lingerie with a private consultation area and two fitting rooms.
Boardman Medical Supply said it is striving to make this service accessible to all breast cancer survivors by also being a designated “Gift Closet” location for The American Cancer Society. Gently-used bras and breast forms can be donated at this location to benefit women with financial limitations.
New downtown nightclub targets college crowd
YOUNGSTOWN — Joe Zumpella and Joe Safarek have opened a nightclub called Downtown 36 at 36 Federal Plaza West. The bar is on the site of the former Core.
The owners said they have created a modern, industrial-looking atmosphere to appeal to the college crowd. Along with a stage for live bands, Downtown 36 has enlarged the dance area and installed five large televisions.
Zumpella also serves as the marketing and Internet sales director for Golf Headquarters in Boardman and is responsible for Downtown 36’s marketing and promotion. Safarek, who is currently general manager of Fat E’s Restaurant in the Eastwood Mall, handles day-to-day management and schedules bands at the nightclub.
Inventors association to meet in Liberty
LIBERTY — The Youngstown & Warren Inventors Association will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Liberty Township administration building, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road. The guest speaker will be Joe Danyi, owner of Youngstown Computer in Struthers. Danyi will give a presentation on Support Youngstown, a new online store service for use by local area business and residents. The meeting is open to the public, and there is no charge.
New grant created to help home buyers
COLUMBUS — The Ohio Housing Finance Agency has announced the creation of a Down Payment Assistance Grant to potential home buyers. The grant is an amount up to 2.5 percent of the purchase price of the home and can be used for the down payment, closing costs and other housing related expenses.
Borrowers using the grant must use one of the agency’s first-time home buyer programs and are required to complete Homebuyer Education prior to approval of the grant. For more information, visit www.ohiohome.org.
