YOUNGSTOWN — The Men’s Garden Club of Youngstown awards a $1,000 scholarship annually to a student planning to further his or her education in the field of ornamental horticulture, landscape design, or allied subjects.

Applicants must be residents of Columbiana, Mahoning, Stark, Portage, Mercer or Lawrence counties. The student must be planning to begin studies in the fall, or be enrolled in a post-secondary program at any accredited college or university in the United States.

Last year’s winner was Alyson Pierce of Howland, a student in the forestry program at Michigan State University.

March 1 is the deadline for submitting applications for the scholarship and for a $1,000 scholarship offered by the Men’s Garden Clubs of America. For an application or more information, contact Keith Kaiser, (330) 740-7116.
