NILES — Party On! was selected as Party Retailer of the Year by Greetings etc., a publication serving the card and party industry. The Niles company, which is owned by Debbie Simon and Jeff Lyda, won in the category of businesses with one to three locations. The business has quadrupled the size of its store since it opened in 1979.

BOARDMAN — Play It Again Sports of Boardman has been recognized by the sports retailing chain for achieving a “Gold Standard” measurement. The “Gold Standard” is reached when a store achieves a set of standards set forth by the franchisor. The Boardman store achieved the customer satisfaction, store operations and product quality standards. Margaret Jones is the owner of the local store.

BOARDMAN — Diane Theis of Boardman was recognized for her retail sales by Premier Designs, a jewelry retailer. Her retail sales of $50,094 was third in the Northeast region of the country in the second half of last year. She is an independent distributor for the company.
