Mission: In part, Fish Samaritan House mission reads “... to witness for Christ in our community as Christians united from all the various denominations which recognize Christ as Savior” ... that we in fact are our brother’s keeper and we as Christians do care and are willing to be there when others need help.”
Location: 17 Kenmore Ave., just off Market Street, in Youngstown.
Hours: 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
Staff: Clarence Thigpen, assistant director; Tina McCale and Tamika Riley, cashiers and office workers; and Antoine Pugh, driver; and John Sunderman, driver’s helper.
Board members: Fred Appel, Cassandra Campean, Karen Lewis and Janet Mau. Volunteers are needed.
Speaker: Donna Kinkade, director, will speak to organizations about the ministry. Call (330) 746-4190.
Newsletter: The Fisherman’s Footsteps, published three times a year, provides information on ministry activities and also is a plea for donations. In the December 2008 publication, Kinkade wrote, “All donations are used in our community. Your donations are a sacred trust to us and we endeavor to use them wisely to do Jesus’ mandate to feed and clothe those less fortunate.”
Donations: Checks of more than $100 should be sent to Youngstown Foundation, P.O. Box 1162, Youngstown, OH 44501, and made payable to the foundation, which will add 5 percent. Note Fish Samaritan House in the memo line. A grant from the foundation paved the parking lot.
Wish list: The ministry needs personal hygiene products for men and women including deodorant, toothpaste and combs, and dish soap and cleaning products.
